Supporting Scout adventures in America’s National Parks since 1997

Since the summer of 1997, Lasting Adventures has provided more than 1,500 scholarships for disadvantaged youth and families to explore the wonder of America’s National Parks, with a portion of donations going directly to our Scout programs. For many of our staff members, their journeys of lifelong environmental stewardship began by participating in Scout programs themselves, and we are devoted supporters of the program and its benefits. We also believe that all youth should have the opportunity to learn from wild places, regardless of financial circumstances. If you would like to join in our goal of making life-changing educational adventures for Scouts accessible to underserved youth, please consider a tax deductible contribution to our scholarship fund. Thank You for supporting Lasting Adventures, Inc!

SCOUT PROGRAMS

Lasting Adventures was founded by an Eagle Scout who was forever changed through his scouting experience. Lasting Adventures offers custom outdoor adventure packages at discounted rates for scout groups of eight or more.

The backcountry in our National Parks provides for a dramatic landscape on our outdoor adventures geared towards Scout Troops. Through a 3 to 7 day custom built adventure, youth will participate in safe adventure activities, fun games, and the experiential learning cycle within one of America’s most favorite National Parks. Routes vary and participants can cover between 25-50 miles throughout the week. Hiking four to five hours a day, scouts have time to fish alpine lakes, and dunk in swimming holes, all while learning basic backpacking skills, wilderness ethics, leadership, and LNT principles. Participants will actively engage in daily activities that are: Significant, Challenging, Supportive, and Fun!

In collaboration with your troop leadership we can design a custom program that includes the following:

  • Leave No Trace
  • Leadership Skills and Team Building
  • Group communication and problem solving skills.
  • Personal growth and development of interpersonal skills
  • Backpacking skills, backcountry ethics, and environmental awareness.

Other: On all custom scout trips, we have a daily circle time in the morning where youth engage in group games, share highlights, offer praise to each other, stretch, review maps and day itineraries, and set individual and group goals for the day. Also, whether breaking on the trail or in the afternoon or evening in the campsite, our guides also facilitate additional opportunities for youth to develop a personal connection with nature. Problem-solving and initiative games are common as are smiles. Additional outdoor skills are gained as we practice Leave no Trace principles and promote environmental stewardship throughout the length of the program.

Available: May-October in Yosemite, Olympic, and Sequoia-Kings National Parks. Book early for prime summer weeks. Makes for the perfect weekend or extended weekend Scout outing in the Spring and Fall. November-March in Joshua Tree National Park.
